The board has been working on filing for a tax ID to allow individual sections to properly open checking accounts and file requisite forms.

Conclusion

Nosh Vadoli has obtained the federal tax ID it is 95-477-4055

Item

Treasurer’s report was given by Ingrid Bruce. The treasury has received $1,058.99 from the now closed Inland Empire Section.

Item

The Inland Empire Section has dissolved. It has:

  • Handed its membership list over to ESRI, and conducted all of its meetings on "joint" basis with the Arc-View users group.
  • Not held a board meeting in 6 months.
  • Emptied its treasury, and given the proceeds, $1,058.00, to the So Cal URISA, Chapter.

Conclusion

Ingrid Bruce to attempt to revive the section after the May 2000 CalGIS conference by:

  • Requesting members to pay dues.
  • Avoid the being a "vendor platform" at all costs.
  • Extend membership offering to Riverside members.
  • Organize a jump-start lunch, with GIS animation film/video festival

 

Item

National URISA Conference in Long Beach, October 2001.

Conclusion

  • Nosh to be point contact with the Orlando URISA National conference team.
  • Send topics and or issues to Nosh.
  • The impact of this on the April 2002, So Cal URISA conference is uncertain.

Scholarship 2000

Conclusion

  • Five entries were received.
  • Judges were being sought.
  • Plans were in process to present award at So Cal GIS Palm Springs conference.
  • Lisa Lubeley to contact Dave Hobs regarding plaques.
  • Awards set at $1,500 if winner is a conference attendee, and $1,000 if not.

So Cal GIS web sites are not functioning.

Conclusion

  • Everyone to test their own web sites and attempt to get them fixed.

Item

Interest has been shown in the formation of Santa Barbara and Ventura URISA sections.

Conclusion

  • S. Hickam to advertise for formation of new sections???

Item

APWA and URISA joint conference.

APWA does not want to hold a combined APWA/SoCalURISA conference in October 2000 because of the poor showing in October 1999 joint conference.

Conclusion

  • Try to continue conference, but ..
  • DA & IB to meet with APWA to explore issues.

Item

Proposed work shop and fund raiser.

Conclusion

  • The issue of geo-coding has been proposed as a 4 hr seminar.
