Olivenhain Dam tour – June 27 (comments)

Regional User Groups Meeting at ESRI Conference – July 8
Dan confirmed that representatives from the following User groups will speak at today’s meeting: SoCal URISA (Kim), San Diego ESRI ArcGIS Users Group (Tim Craig), San Diego Regional GIS Council, formerly GIS Coordinator’s Group (Wendy Barto), CGIA (Steve Kunkel), GITA (Laszlo), SoCal GIS Local Government User Group (Barry Waite). Kim will host today’s meeting and announce winners of the San Diego Geography Showcase. Awards for showcase winners were donated by ESRI and include Virtual campus courses and an ArcPad license (Grand Showcase).
Workshop Survey Results
Kim provided results from workshop surveys distributed and collected from the 2003 CalGIS conference and 3-D Visualization workshop (June 2003). Results showed that the majority of survey respondents are interested in Database Management and Cartography, employed by County/Regional/Local Governments, and would like to see workshops on Data Creation/ Maintenance/Conversion and Database Management and Topical GIS issues (e.g., Geology/Environmental, Urban Planning, Public Works,Tax Assessment). Results also showed that the majority of those surveyed would travel 75 to 100 miles to attend workshops (depending on length and content).
Next Workshop – Topic, Date, Location
Workshop Topics include:
o GIS and Information Systems Integration
o Consensus Building Techniques for GIS Partnerships
Membership Drives
Membership Drives will not be held at local restaurants this year. A technical tour (Olivenhain Dam tour) will be coordinated instead. Membership dues will be collected on these tours as well as through annual letters of reminder.

o GIS/Database Tips and Tricks
o Job Listings
