2003Conference Dan Henderson

Conference Committee went to Palm Springs to inspect facilities. The Committee is in the  process of finalizing the contract with convention center. We plan to reserve the whole convention center. Lots of space, so workshops will be at the convention center instead of a remote location. Plenary session and setup can happen at the same time without conflicting.  The Spa Hotel will be the Host Hotel.  Taste testing food postponed until October.  Program is tracks are set. Call for papers will go to press soon. Matt Brown, Tom McDowell and Lisa Lubeley are the program chairs; there will be 5 tracks. Website will have more details when it comes online. Rates to attend are as follows: $225 (onsite), $200, $145, $95. Early Registration is still a bargain. More attendance is desired.

Conference is on schedule. Next Committee Meeting will be in July or August

Treasurer’s report Mike Calandra.

We have money in the treasury.

Los Angeles section is in trouble. Too much competition from various user groups. Discussion ensued seeking a solution. Possible reconfiguration and/or consolidation of the Chapter scenarios discussed; workshops are successful. Possible rotation of whole Chapter meeting. Develop a questionnaire for members.

Chapter Board will meet during ESRI Conference to discuss. Will take ideas to National in October.

Tax ID Status Eric Bauman

Application for 1024 status rejected

Instead we are applying for the 1023, 501c3. We still need a constitution. Scott Fabbro and Stan Yon will get the date of the original documentation and place on Constitution, and get to Eric by the end of the week.

In the future keep all receipts and create a standard for travel invoices. Discussion ensued of Chapter obtaining credit cards, which create a whole new set of requirements. Do not use debit cards.

San Diego Section will host an August meeting at Scripps Institute of Oceanography in La Jolla. The focus of the meeting is the membership drive and a Vis demo of Fliedermaus.
